The US Mission in Nigeria said the country remains the third-largest market globally for American wheat exports, a position reinforced by the latest 50,000 metric-ton consignment.

The delivery was inspected by US Consul General Rick Swart and US Agricultural Counsellor Chris Bielecki, who visited the port to observe the unloading process.

The wheat was purchased by Flour Mills of Nigeria, one of the country’s leading food processors and a long-standing buyer of US grain.

Over the years, the relationship between the two countries has continued to yield mutual gains. Agricultural trade helps American farmers reach new markets while creating jobs in Nigeria through value-added processing.

Shipments such as this strengthen the supply chain for food producers and ensure Nigerian consumers have access to reliable, high-quality ingredients.

The arrival of the latest consignment is expected to bolster domestic manufacturing and help stabilise food companies’ supply.

The US Mission added that agricultural commerce between the two countries has expanded significantly this year.

This growth underscores a deepening commercial partnership that supports farmers, businesses, and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.

With Nigeria seeking to expand local food processing capacity and maintain steady access to high-quality wheat, the latest shipment signals continued cooperation in a sector central to both nations’ economic interests.

As trade volumes rise, stakeholders expect the partnership to play an even more critical role in strengthening food security and boosting industrial growth across Africa’s largest economy.
