The Daily: Red Wings’ Kasper Finally Locates Confidence; NHL Trade Rumors

With five points out of six earned on their mini-road trip, the Detroit Red Wings are on a pace for 106 points. If they reach that total, it would be their best finish since 2008-09 when they accumulated 112 points and reached the Stanley Cup Final.

After Tuesday and Thursday home games against Los Angeles and then Washington, the Red Wings will have completed more than two-thirds of the 2025-26 season. They are currently in first place in the Atlantic Division and tied for first in the Eastern Conference standings

Marco Kasper’s offensive contributions are among the positives of the road trip.  Contributing a goal and an assist in the Red Wings 5-1 win against Winnipeg, Kasper owns 12 points on the season. Playing again on a line with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, Kasper has two goals and four assists for six points in his past five games. The Austrian forward is plus-seven with 13 shots on goal in those games.

This comes after Kasper registered only six points in his previous 47 games.  He’s playing more like he did in the second half of last season.

A bigger story is John Gibson strengthening his case to be a Vezina Trophy finalist. He now has his second eight-game winning streak of the season, joining Chris Osgood as the only Red Wings netminders to post two streaks of eight or more games in a single season.

Prospect goalie Sebastian Cossa is piling up the wins and accolades.

Detroit left wing James van Riemsdyk has found the spotlight with the Detroit Red Wings. Did you know he also had some lights, camera, action moments in Hollywood?

Former Red Wings continue to attack each other in the Swedish Hockey League. What’s that all about?

The South Lyon product has given up two or fewer goals in 17 (77.2%) of his starts… Dylan James (40th, 2022) posted two assists and scored the go-ahead goal in North Dakota’s 5-3 come-from-behind win at Arizona State. . . Carter Bear (13th, 2025) has 26 points in his past 17 games for the Everett Silvertips. The edgy forward has 17 shots on goal in his past three games in the WHL.
