The Sixers have agreed to trade Eric Gordon to the Memphis Grizzlies, a source confirmed Thursday afternoon to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Along with Gordon, the Sixers are set to give Memphis a 2032 second-round pick swap. They’ll acquire the rights to Justinian Jessup, a 27-year-old shooting guard taken with the 51st overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Jessup is currently a member of Bayern Munich and has yet to play in the NBA.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the Gordon trade and noted the Sixers have the “flexibility to complete the conversion” of two-way contract player Dominick Barlow to a standard NBA deal. PhillyVoice’s Adam Aaronson reported the Jessup aspect.
After signing a one-year, minimum-salary contract to return to the Sixers, Gordon only appeared in six games this season. The 37-year-old guard played 45 times in total as a Sixer and averaged 6.6 points and 1.5 assists.
With the Sixers much healthier than last season and Gordon out of the rotation, the odds always seemed high that the team would try to move him at the trade deadline. The Sixers opened another roster spot on Wednesday when they sent Jared McCain to the Thunder in exchange for four draft picks.
