Lonzo Ball is averaging 4.6 points, four rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season.
The Cavaliers reportedly are trading guard Lonzo Ball to the Jazz in a three-team deal with the Hawks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Jazz reportedly plan to waive Ball, who would then become a free agent after clearing waivers. The Hawks reportedly add center Jock Landale from the Jazz in the deal.
Essentially a three-team trade that allows Jazz to pick up two seconds, the Hawks to land a productive center in Landale and the Cavaliers to shed significant salary and tax savings while bringing in James Harden, Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroder to fortify the roster this week. https://t.co/Jed7L9sNr6

Once he is waived by the Jazz, as reportedly expected, Ball will enter the open market. The playoff eligibility waiver deadline is March 1.
The Cavs picked up Ball last offseason via a trade with the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Issac Okoro. Ball is averaging 4.6 points, four rebounds and 3.9 assists in 20.8 minutes per game for the Cavs this season.
Ball averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 35 games in 2024-25 after missing the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns because of a left knee injury. The 28-year-old Ball underwent a meniscus and cartilage transplant in his left knee in March 2023 after two surgeries failed to fix an injury he suffered during his first season in Chicago in 2021-22.
The second overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 draft, Ball missed the last two months of the 2024-25 season because of a sprained right wrist. He has one year remaining on his contract with a team option for the 2026-27 season.
The Jazz acquired Landale in the Jaren Jackson Jr. trade on Tuesday, but he will be moving on to the Hawks. He’s in his fifth NBA season and is averaging career bests in points (11.3), rebounds (6.5) and assists (1.7) in 2025-26.
