The Los Angeles Angels are bolstering their organizational infield depth.

Los Angeles landed infielder Vaughn Grissom in a trade with Boston during the 2025 Winter Meetings, with Boston receiving outfielder Isaiah Jackson in return.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan and MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo first reported the news.

At this point in his career, Grissom is best known as the player the Red Sox acquired when they traded Chris Sale to the Atlanta Braves in December 2023. All Sale did in his first season with the Braves was take home the 2024 National League Cy Young award and lead the league with a 2.38 ERA.

It’s safe to say Grissom has not had that type of impact.

He did not appear in a major league game during the 2025 campaign and remained at the Triple-A level. He slashed .270/.342/.441 with 13 home runs, 48 RBI and nine stolen bases across 96 games.

While Grissom has spent the majority of his professional career in the minor leagues, he appeared in a combined 95 games for the Braves and Red Sox from 2022 through 2024 and slashed .255/.309/.346 with five home runs and 33 RBI.

As for Jackson, he is just 21 years old and has limited experience. During the 2025 campaign, he had 32 at-bats at the High-A level and posted a .219/.324/.344 slash line with one home run.

However, he has potential and was ranked as the 25th-best prospect in the Angels’ system last season, per MLB.com.
