STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – The Perry Township Police Department announced Tuesday a new interagency partnership with the Jackson Township Police Department focusing on cryptocurrency related crimes.

According to PTPD, the JTPD will provide certified cryptocurrency investigative support in cases originating in Perry Township.

The partnership also allows for PTPD to leverage in specialized expertise in the evolving areas of financial crime, ensuring that investigations are more thorough and have improved outcomes.

PTPD said there have already been produced positive results.

A recent case in Perry Township had investigative efforts led by the JTPD that resulted in a successful recovery of cryptocurrency funds that were able to be returned to the victim.

The collaboration between the departments will help strengthen the ability to pursue cryptocurrency cases more effectively and reinforces the shared commitment to serving and protecting communities, police said.
