The 2026 trade deadline is rapidly approaching on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET, with plenty of high-profile names potentially on the move in this year’s cycle.
The action really ramped up on Tuesday, with the headliner being the Clippers’ trade of James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Darius Garland and a second-round pick. Earlier in the day, the Grizzlies, who have fielded offers for point guard Ja Morant, took the first step toward a significant rebuild by trading Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz in a massive eight-player deal. The Bulls were also busy, shipping out Kevin Huerter, Dario Šarić and a 2026 first-round protected pick in one three-team deal, and sending two-time All-Star Nikola Vučević to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick.

The wheeling and dealing continued Wednesday, with the Mavericks reportedly trading All-Star Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards in a massive eight-player swap. Shortly after, the 76ers sent Jared McCain to the Thunder, the Bulls reportedly traded Coby White to the Hornets, and the Clippers traded Chris Paul to the Raptors after their messy breakup.
What’s the latest on Giannis Antetokounmpo?
Milwaukee Bucks forward and two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo appears to be ready for a new home amid frustrations with the organization’s disappointing season. He’s projected to be out of the lineup for the next 4-6 weeks as he recovers from a calf injury, but will no doubt command a hefty return for the Bucks — and be a game-changing asset for the team that acquires him.
Among the “serious suitors” for Antetokounmpo are the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves, NBA insider Shams Charania reports.

Notably, despite an abysmal season, the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly informing teams that several players, including Zion Williamson, are off the market.

After getting traded to the Bulls and Hornets in back-to-back days, Mike Conley Jr. could soon be back where it all started. If Conley is bought out of his current contract by the Hornets, he is eligible to be signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Minnesota Timberwolves reporter Dane Moore said Conley is reportedly considering going back to the Timberwolves if he hits the market.
Conley played multiple seasons for the Timberwolves before being traded on Tuesday. This season, he has averaged career lows with 4.4 points and 2.9 assists on 32.2 % shooting. This has led to his role being decreased, with him only starting nine games.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors have agreed to a three-team deal that will send 12-time All-Star point guard Chris Paul from L.A. to Toronto, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
But Charania also reported Wednesday that the Raptors won’t require Paul to report to the team and could still deal him once more.
Longtime NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Paul is expected to be waived.
Through the deal, the Clippers are ending up with the rights to 2019 second-round pick Vanja Marinković (from the Nets), per Jake Fischer.
Meanwhile, the Nets are getting Raptors guard Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 Raptors second-round pick and cash, per Charania.

Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. are done in Chicago.
The Bulls dealt both White and Conley to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday afternoon, one day ahead of the trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. In exchange, the Hornets are sending Collin Sexton and three second-round draft picks to Chicago.
The Bulls are also receiving Ousmane Dieng in the deal. Dieng was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, though it’s unclear how he landed in Charlotte. Details of that trade are unclear.
The Bulls made the move ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline after fortifying their backcourt in two other trades.

The Oklahoma City Thunder easily defeated the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, but the win came with a potentially significant cost. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sustained an abdominal injury during the contest, and will be out at least through the All-Star break due to the issue, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The severity of the injury is not known at the moment. The team plans to re-evaluate Gilgeous-Alexander after the break, meaning he’ll miss — at minimum — five games before a possible return.
It’s unclear when Gilgeous-Alexander sustained the injury. The 27-year-old turned in a strong performance during the Thunder’s 128-92 win over the Magic on Tuesday, scoring 20 points and dishing out nine assists in nearly 28 minutes on the court.

The Philadelphia 76ers are trading second-year guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a 2026 Houston Rockets first-round pick, as well as three second-round picks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The news arrived on Wednesday, the same day Charania reported that Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team’s leading scorer and the league’s reigning MVP, will be out through at least the All-Star break because of an abdominal strain he suffered Tuesday night during a 128-92 win over the Orlando Magic.
The Sixers selected McCain out of Duke with the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and he showed glimpses of stardom early last season, but the 21-year-old has struggled with injuries since.

The Anthony Davis era in Dallas is now over.
The Mavericks struck a deal to send Davis to the Washington Wizards, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Davis was acquired in a blockbuster trade by the Mavericks along with Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick last season in exchange for Luka Dončić, Markieff Morris and Maxi Kleber, who were traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Davis’ time with the Mavericks ended after he appeared in just 29 games, despite being with the team since last February. His latest setback occurred after he injured his hand on January 8 against the Utah Jazz. Although hand surgery is not required, as initially reported, Davis was still expected to miss extended time with the injury. The team opened trade talks shortly after.

The Sacramento Kings are the team most strongly connected to Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant in trade talks as the deadline approaches.
Sacramento loves Morant’s high upside and views him as a player who could return to star status. The Miami Heat are also among the teams linked to Morant. The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, Feb. 5 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

As the NBA trade deadline quickly approaches, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James may not be on his way out the door just yet, but some feel this could be his final season in LA.
Joe Vardon and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic feel like the Cleveland Cavaliers are the obvious landing spot for James this summer as he enters free agency and potentially returns for season No. 24.
“LeBron James will be a free agent this summer, and if he chooses to play a 24th NBA season, sources close to him said Cleveland would be an obvious destination. His salary would not be close to the $52.6 million he’s earning now in Los Angeles, but at age 41 he is aware of the market realities facing him if he extends his career.”
James has played in 32 games this season and is averaging 22 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

The Miami Heat are reportedly now attempting to trade for Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant and thus are no longer viewed as being at the forefront of the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
Miami is among other teams like Sacramento and Minnesota, believed to be in the mix for the seventh-year guard. Morant has been sidelined for much of the season, having appeared in just 20 games. In those games, Morant is averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1 assist per game.

Nikola Vučević is now a Boston Celtic, as the organization took on Vučević and a second-round selection for Anfernee Simons and a second-round selection.
Let’s get into some trade grades.
Boston Celtics: B+
Look, this team needed a center, especially one who can stretch the floor. Vučević can do that. He’s hit 39.1% of those shots over his last 121 games and is getting them up at a decent volume (4.5 per), which fits well with how Boston plays.
Vučević also provides the team with strong rebounding (10.4 for his career) and can string together nice passing patterns.
He’ll give the Celtics an interior offensive boost they’ve lacked for a while, all while the organization saves money on its tax bill.
Yes, the Celtics did give up a high second in what could be an absolutely loaded draft, but if that means solving an issue and getting a more streamlined cap sheet, so be it. That should be worth it at the end of the day.

The 38-year-old Conley was dealt from the Timberwolves to the Bulls on Tuesday, but according to Chris Haynes, the veteran guard will likely be dealt again before the NBA trade deadline on Thursday.
Conley, who is averaging a career low 4.4 points in 18:27 minute per night over 44 games this season, is on an expiring contract.
