Lakers’ leading trade candidate has emerged

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a strong start to the 2025-26 NBA season and currently hold a 17-6 record.

JJ Redick and company have looked the part of a potential championship contender early on this year. However, the season is still young and there are some areas that the Lakers could look to improve before the trade deadline.

Already, plenty of trade rumors and a lot of speculation has come up surrounding Los Angeles. Of course, the Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors have continued growing louder as his situation with the Milwaukee Bucks develops. Outside of Antetokounmpo, there are plenty of other ideas that could improve the Lakers.

While most ideas have had to do with Los Angeles going out and acquiring players, there is a chance that the Lakers could look to ship a player or two out as well. At the very least, they would need to be open to trading away current pieces to add an outside player.

Keeping that in mind, the most likely player to be traded away by Los Angeles has now been named.

Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report has named Gabe Vincent as the most likely player to be traded away by the team. He even suggested a potential trade target who the Lakers could consider pursuing.

“At just $11 million this season, Vincent isn’t going to bring back a major upgrade,” Hughes wrote. “But he could be part of a package that returns a rotation-worthy defender with more size and versatility. It would take some sweetening, but the veteran guard could feature in a deal for Mavericks center Daniel Gafford.”

Vincent has played in 12 games so far this season, with six of those appearances being in the starting lineup. He has averaged 5.1 points, 1.7 assists, and a rebound per game, while shooting just 35.2 percent from the floor and 37.2 percent of his three-point attempts.

Since signing with Los Angeles, Vincent hasn’t been able to fill the role that was hoped for from him. The Lakers have continued giving him opportunities, but it might be time for the two parties to part ways.

If the right deal comes up, Vincent would be a very obvious candidate to be traded to make salaries work.
