In a Facebook address yesterday, We Invest In Nationhood leader Azruddin Mohamed alleged that illicit dealings in gold were continuing and that one major player was being paid in a cryptocurrency which is not traceable.
Mohamed, who along with his father Nazar Mohamed is facing US indictments over under-invoicing of gold exports from Guyana, alleged that a major dealer based in Essequibo was continuing to smuggle gold and was being paid via the cryptocurrency USDT which he said is not traceable. He said that Chinese interests then purchase this cryptocurrency.
