Exclusive: Consio zips $3.3M to turn phone calls into high-ticket ecom conversions

E-commerce brands lose revenue when high-intent buyers can’t speak to a human at the right moment: abandoned carts go cold, leads sit in callback queues, and complex orders stall out. Consio AI wants to plug that gap by turning voice into a primary conversion channel, combining AI agents with seamless human handoffs to close high-ticket deals faster.

The company has secured a $3.3 million seed round led by RTP Global (backer of Datadog and Delivery Hero), with participation from SaaStr Fund, Mu Ventures, Gorgias founders, and executives from Ramp and Datadog.

Repositioning the phone as a core e-commerce sales channel

Co-founders Philippe Roireau (CEO) and Martin Latrille developed Consio after seeing too many missed opportunities.

Roireau tells TFN, “Consio AI was launched in January 2025 by me (Philippe Roireau, CEO) and Martin Latrille (CTO) after years of building ecommerce software and watching voice AI reach a real inflexion point. The opportunity was clear: phone is one of the highest-trust, highest-conversion channels in commerce, but for most Shopify merchants it’s been too expensive, too manual, and too poorly integrated to scale profitably.”

He continues, “Legacy phone systems are largely horizontal and don’t natively understand ecommerce workflows or Shopify context—so agents (or bots) lack the real-time customer, order, and product details needed to resolve questions and convert intent. We created Consio to make the phone channel profitable and seamless for e-commerce, by combining Shopify-native context with AI voice automation and human calling workflows.”

On the product side, Consio is building a voice AI stack tailored specifically to e-commerce. Its toolkit includes a Power Dialer for outbound campaigns, instant inbound agents that can handle FAQs and checkout guidance, and a central Phone Hub that logs every call with relevant customer and order context.

Key differentiators include Shopify-native workflows, reliable human handoffs designed to avoid awkward call transfers, CRM integrations, and brand guardrails that prevent the typical “robotic” AI tone.

Roireau elaborates, “Consio AI is Shopify-native by design. Instead of treating Shopify as ‘just another integration,’ the platform is built around ecommerce objects (customers, orders, products, subscriptions, shipping/returns policies) so conversations can be resolved faster and actions can be taken directly inside the merchant workflow. In practice, that means better context, fewer handoffs, and higher conversion versus generic phone stacks.”

Unlike horizontal AI voice platforms such as Replicant and PolyAI, or support-focused suites like Gorgias and Zendesk Talk, Consio is explicitly optimised for revenue outcomes. The platform is built around conversion-centric workflows, including timed outbound sequences, voicemail drops, and routing high-value prospects to human reps.

What about diversity?

On diversity, Roireau comments, “Consio AI is a corporation with a globally distributed team of 12 spanning the U.S., France, Canada, and South Africa. “

What’s next?

With fresh capital, Consio plans to double down on product development, including more advanced AI to handle edge cases, deeper integrations with ecommerce storefronts, and an expanded partner ecosystem.

Roireau concludes, “We are aiming to become the default phone layer for Shopify commerce—powering a large share of the calls that merchants rely on for support and sales. The focus is to deliver revenue-generating end-customer experiences through AI Voice Agents when automation is appropriate, and to make human calling highly efficient and profitable when a real conversation drives the best outcome.”
