DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have traded for former Orlando Magic guard Tyus Jones, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Mavs sent Malaki Branham, who came to Dallas in the Anthony Davis trade, to Orlando for Jones, Charania reported.

With the addition of Jones, the Mavericks now have five former Duke Blue Devils on the roster: Cooper Flagg, Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II, Marvin Bagley III and Jones. Bagley III was added to the Mavs roster as part of the eight-player trade that sent Davis to the Washington Wizards.

Dallas will take on Jones’ one-year, $7 million contract. This move comes after Dallas offloaded about $70 million from their payroll next season with the Davis trade on Feb. 4, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. The NBA trade deadline closed at 2 p.m. CT on Feb. 5.

With these trade deadline moves, the Mavericks front office has accumulated draft capital and younger players to build around the franchise cornerstone, Cooper Flagg.
