Rajkot: A 45-year-old businessman has lodged a complaint at the Pradyuman Nagar police station alleging that he was cheated of Rs 13.71 lakh on the pretext of high returns on investment in cryptocurrency.The complainant, Mohan Chandpa, has accused Harshdeep Khachar, Jayveer and Uka of cheating and intimidation.According to the complaint, Chandpa was introduced to Khachar about a month ago. Khachar allegedly offered returns ranging from 3% to 30% on investments in cryptocurrency (USDT). On Dec 2, Chandpa transferred Rs 13.71 lakh via angadia to one Hardik for the purchase of 15,000 USDT.Chandpa was assured that either the profit would be returned or the USDT would be credited to his account the same evening. When this did not happen, he contacted the accused and was later called to a hotel on the 150 Feet Ring Road, where the accused allegedly refused to return the money.The complaint further alleges that Chandpa was abused, threatened with death and insulted on the basis of caste. He also claimed that he received threatening phone calls from another accused, Jayveer.Police have registered a case under Sections 318(4), 351(2), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
