Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis will reportedly undergo surgery on his left hand to repair ligament damage and will miss several months, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Charania added that the planned surgery has “renewed Davis trade talks with multiple interested teams” since he could potentially return during the playoffs.

Davis later disputed recent rumors on social media:

Davis previously left the Mavericks’ 116-114 loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday due to a hand injury and did not return. He later underwent an MRI that revealed ligament damage.

The 10-time All-Star found himself in trade rumors prior to the injury, with the Mavericks reportedly listening to offers for him ahead of the 2026 deadline.

He’s been linked to the Toronto Raptors, Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks, among other teams.

Davis in the midst of his first full season in Dallas after the team acquired him as part of the blockbuster swap that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in Feb. 2025.

His tenure with the Mavericks has been impacted by injuries, as he missed time earlier this season due to a left calf strain. Davis also played in just nine games with Dallas during the 2024-25 season while dealing with a left adductor strain as well as an eye injury.

Still, the 32-year-old made his presence felt on both ends of the court when healthy. Davis has averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals per game this season while shooting 50.6 percent from the field.
