It’s not something you see every day.

In the often irrational social media universe, most internet posters that immediately reacted to the Milwaukee Brewers’ decision to trade Freddy Peralta to the New York Mets were sharing opinions and emotions that were actually … quite rational.

Of course any passionate and seasoned Brewers fanatic is used to this. Perhaps there is some numbness to the fact that yet another fan favorite at American Family Field has been traded in the final year of his contract. Fans have already watched the Brewers play let’s make a deal with all-star pitchers Josh Hader, Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams when they were approaching the final year of their contract.

Peralta was in the same scenario. Though he was due to make an extremely affordable $8 million this season, he was also coming off a career year of 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA and over 200 strikeouts. With little chance of resigning him after the season, they acquired top 100 prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat from the Mets.

While some fans were obviously upset with the Brewers’ decision to move Peralta after the team finished with the best record in the majors in 2025, others noted that it’s hard to argue with the Brewers’ call, as they have gone to the playoffs seven of the last eight seasons while making similar moves.

Here’s some social media commentary to Peralta leaving Milwaukee after spending his first eight seasons with the Brewers.

Of course, there was also disappointment.
