Europeans: Greenland Tariffs Aren’t Compatible With EU-U.S. Trade Agreement

European leaders will meet this week to further coordinate their response to President Trump’s threat of additional tariffs on goods from eight European nations related to his efforts to acquire Greenland.

Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, says he has decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the group in the coming days after spending Sunday consulting with member states. The European Council helps set the European Union’s political direction.

Costa said Europeans are united in the support and solidarity with Denmark and Greenland, which is a Danish territory, and share the view that tariffs would undermine transatlantic relations and aren’t compatible with the EU-U.S. trade agreement.
