The Cincinnati Reds are reportedly trading infielder Gavin Lux to the Tampa Bay Rays as part of a three-team deal completed Thursday.According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Reds are part of a three-team trade with the Rays and Los Angeles Angels.Passan reported that the Reds will send Lux to Tampa Bay and Angels relief pitcher Brock Burke will be sent to Cincinnati.The Rays are trading outfielder Josh Lowe to the Angels, who are sending minor league pitcher Chris Clark to Tampa Bay.The reported deal sends Lux to his third team in as many seasons. Lux spent the 2025 season with the Reds after being traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers.Lux earned plenty of playing time under manager Terry Francona, playing in 140 games while hitting .269/.350/.374 with five home runs and 53 RBIs.In a crowded Cincinnati infield, Lux’s path to playing time in 2026 looked likely to be at designated hitter, with some spot starts in left field also possible.Instead, Lux heads to the Angels, who are coming off a 72-90 season in 2025.Burke, 29, pitched last season out of the Angels’ bullpen and was very successful, at times, posting a 3.36 ERA in 61.2 innings.Burke, a left-hander, struck out 52 hitters and walked only 18, with eight home runs allowed. He will add more depth to the Reds’ bullpen that traded away Yosver Zulueta to Seattle earlier on Thursday.
