It seems Eagles receiver A.J. Brown is staying in Philadelphia, at least for right now.
During a joint press conference with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni Thursday, general manager Howie Roseman was asked directly if he would trade the club’s No. 1 wideout, who refused to talk to the media after tallying three drops in the Eagles’ 23-19 loss to the 49ers in the NFC wild-card game.
“It’s hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.’s a great player,” Roseman said. “I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for, when we go out in free agency and the draft, is trying to find great players who love football and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.”
Roseman had a similar explanation when the Eagles did not move Brown at the trade deadline in November.
“I think that when you’re trying to be a great team, it’s hard to trade great players, and A.J. Brown’s a great player,” Roseman said at the time. “He wears the ‘C’ [on his jersey] for a reason. He’s an important part of this team, of this organization.
“He cares about winning, he cares about his teammates, and I think that when you’re a team like ours that is looking forward to an opportunity to compete for a championship, you just don’t get rid of guys like that.”
Some would say Roseman danced around a “yes” or “no” answer to the question in Thursday’s press conference.
Brown is under contract through 2029 after signing a three-year, $92 million deal last April.
He made it clear on multiple occasions this season — in the media and on social media — that he was frustrated with his role within the Eagles’ offense.
In 2025, Brown finished with 1,003 receiving yards in the regular season, the second-lowest mark in his seven-year NFL career.
Brown had eight games with less than 50 receiving yards this season, including Sunday’s loss to the 49ers (25).

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie met with Brown on the field during a practice last November reportedly to discuss the matter — and the veteran player promised Lurie that he would stop complaining on social media.
The meeting happened a day after Brown publicly ranted about the Eagles offense.
Before that, a now-viral video of Brown saying “it’s a s–tshow ” in Philadelphia made the rounds on social media.
There were also rumblings of tension between Brown and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“A.J. and I have talked,” Hurts said when asked if he hoped Brown would be back for a fifth season with the Eagles while at locker clean out day.
“We’re in a good, great place.”
