The Daily: The Griffins’ Amazing Streak Continues; NHL Trade Rumors

This post was originally published on this site.

Is the development of Red Wings prospects critical to the Grand Rapids Griffins’ becoming the first AHL team in its 90-year history to win 24 of its first 26 games?

Or, are Red Wings prospects developing better because they are part of this historic run?

The answer is probably ‘yes’ to both questions.

Ondrej Becher (80th, 2024) contributed a goal an assist, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard (15th, 2024) tallied his sixth goal of the season and William Wallinder (32nd, 2020) added two assists to power the Griffins to 6-2 win against the Iowa Wild Friday.

This was the Griffins’ 13th consecutive win and raised their season record to 24-1-0-1. The 13-game winning streak is the second longest in franchise history.

Goalie Sebastian Cossa (15th, 2021) continued his roll, making 23 saves to improve his record to 14-1. Defenseman Antti Tuomisto (35th, 2019) also netted his fifth goal of the season. Alex Doucet scored, and Dominik Shine had an assist to tie Kip Miller for fourth  on the franchise’s all-time points list (208 points).

Becher now has nine points in his past 11 games, while veteran Red Wings defenseman Erik Gustafsson now has eight points in his past four games. Wallinder was plus-three in the game.
