MEDINA, Ohio – Sandridge Crafted Foods is looking to expand operations in the city and create 10 full-time positions and council’s finance committee has approved a job creation grant for the company.
“If you remember, a year ago we brought forth a proposed agreement because of a project Sandridge was planning at the 820 Lafayette Road facility,” Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall said. “Council approved the agreement for that job creation grant but the company called to tell us they were pulling the plug on that project, but not to worry because they had a bigger project in the works. This tentative agreement before you this evening is for that project.”
Marshall said Sandridge plans to renovate a building they recently acquired at 111 Commerce Drive.
“They are renovating this building to allow for an expanded sales and marketing department, an innovation kitchen, a conference room and warehouse space,” she said.
Marshall said the project Sandridge was planning last year would have been a $2.5 million investment but added that this current project is an estimated $5.3 million investment. She said the project will include the creation of 10 new full-time jobs with an estimated $600,000 payroll. She said the proposed job creation grant for Sandridge includes a grant of up to 40 percent the value of new payroll taxes for three years.
“This has been reviewed and approved by the law director and the company,” she said. “I also want to remind that job creation grants are funded through non-income tax generated revenue.”
