First Alert Forecast: Blustery trade winds to dominate the week

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Trade winds will remain rather breezy for much of this week. However, a wind advisory has been canceled as the wind speeds have fallen just below the advisory thresholds.

Showers will be hitching a ride on the trades for windward and mauka areas, but some of those showers may be pushed leeward. Most of the showers will be during the nighttime and morning hours.

Winds may lighten up this coming weekend with more clouds and a slightly higher chance of showers.

A high surf advisory remains in effect for the east-facing shores of all islands, with the strong trades keeping waves elevated through midweek. Surf on other shores will be on the small side, but north and west shores could get a small bump Wednesday into Thursday.

For mariners, a small craft advisory is in effect for all coastal waters due to the strong trade winds.
