The Seattle Seahawks are still celebrating the team’s dominant Super Bowl win, but NFL rumors are already swirling about what the team could do in order to bolster the franchise’s chances to repeat as champions. Seattle is Super Bowl champions in large part because of the team’s pass rush.
The Seahawks defense made New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s life miserable during the Super Bowl. Could Seattle double down on this strength by acquiring one of the best pass rushers in the NFL?
There are no shortage of trade rumors involving Las Vegas Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby. The Seahawks have been linked to Crosby in the past, and it will be worth watching to see if general manager John Schneider makes another run at the defender.
Let’s explore whether Crosby could be a fit for the Seahawks.
Seahawks Rumors: Blockbuster Trade Pitch Has Seattle Land Raiders Star Maxx Crosby
CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan outlined a potential trade that has the Seahawks land Crosby in a blockbuster deal. The Raiders acquire the Seahawks’ first- and second-round picks (No. 32 and No. 64) in exchange for Crosby.
Despite landing Crosby in the trade pitch, it would be quite a challenging deal for the Seahawks who only have four picks heading into the 2026 NFL draft. Yet, the chances of either of these picks becoming an elite player like Crosby are unlikely.
“Boye Mafe is set to become a free agent this offseason, and if he departs, that would create a need,” Sullivan wrote in a February 12, 2026, story titled, “Maxx Crosby mock trades: Five blockbuster deals that could shake up the NFL.” “Seeing what Mike Macdonald could do with Crosby at his disposal — coming off a championship season in which Seattle ranked sixth in pressure rate despite primarily rushing four — would be borderline unfair.
“The Seahawks also boast a talented enough roster to feel comfortable punting on the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft if it means Crosby heads to the Pacific Northwest. The organization also has $72.2 million in available cap space (sixth-highest in the NFL) to help facilitate a new deal.”
The Seahawks Previously Attempted to Trade for Raiders Pass Rusher Maxx Crosby: Insider
Seattle does have plenty of cap space with projections ranging from $63 million to $73 million this offseason. This would have the Seahawks hovering around the top-five teams with the most cap space.
Down the road, the Seahawks will need this space with stars like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon both entering the final season of their rookie contracts in 2026. Crosby would require a large financial commitment as the the star is on a three-year, $106.5 million deal that is slated to go through the 2029 season.
ESPN’s Brady Henderson reported that Seattle attempted to trade for Crosby before making later deals to part with Geno Smith and DK Metcalf.
“Seattle’s plan was to offer Smith an extension, but in a free-flowing conversation at the combine, Schneider floated a potential trade that would have sent Smith and receiver DK Metcalf to Las Vegas in exchange for edge rusher Maxx Crosby, according to a source with knowledge of the conversation,” Henderson detailed in a January 14, article titled, “How Seahawks started over at QB with Sam Darnold.”
“The Raiders eventually shot the idea down and extended Crosby after the combine.”
