Speaking at a dinner organised to unveil the chamber, the Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, Tomáš Výprachtický, said his country was keen to deepen bilateral cooperation by creating practical platforms for dialogue, investment, and long-term partnerships.

The ambassador said the chamber was designed to bring together government officials, industry leaders, and creative sector players in an informal setting that encourages collaboration.

He noted that Nigeria and the Czech Republic already share a long-standing political and economic relationship, with Czech companies and institutions active in Nigeria for several years.

Highlighting existing ties, Mr Výprachtický pointed to people-to-people exchanges between both countries, including Nigerian priests who have served in Czech monasteries in recent years. He described Nigeria as a country with vast natural and human resources and strong potential in engineering and technology.

The President of the Nigeria–Central Europe Chamber of Commerce, Paschal Onyemaechi, said the organisation was registered in August 2025 with a mandate to strengthen ties between Europe and Africa.

He explained that the chamber operates across at least five countries and aims to bridge European technical expertise with Africa’s natural resources, youthful population, and growing markets.

Mr Onyemaechi said the chamber would focus on promoting bilateral trade, encouraging investment, and providing up-to-date information on market trends and emerging opportunities in both regions.

He added that the organisation would also support educational mobility, technology transfer, and closer interaction between business leaders, policymakers, and industrialists.

A highlight of the event was the induction of senior figures into the chamber’s leadership structures. Andrew Haruna, Pro-Chancellor of Bingham University and a distinguished linguist, was named head of the advisory council.

Others inducted as committee members included Rislan Kanya, Jamilu Gwamna of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, business leader Dere Awosika, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
