WAUSAU, Wis. — The Wausau Finance Committee will take up a proposed lease for the Riverlife Park concession building Tuesday, a key step for a plan that would bring a new ice cream operation to the downtown riverfront.
The committee is scheduled to meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in council chambers at Wausau City Hall.
The Riverlife item is expected to draw the most attention on the agenda. Finance Committee members will consider approval of a lease agreement between the city and Sawmill Mini Golf LLC for use of the Riverlife Park concession building. The proposal would allow Sawmill to operate an ice cream business at the site during the warmer months.
The lease advanced to Finance after receiving support from the Parks Committee earlier this month. During that meeting, Parks Committee members backed the proposal, citing interest in activating the Riverlife area and adding another family-friendly amenity along the Wisconsin River corridor.
Finance Committee consideration focuses on the contractual and financial terms of the lease rather than programming or park operations. If approved, the agreement would move on to the City Council for final action. That meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
In addition to the Riverlife concession lease, the committee will review several other items, including amendments to professional services contracts, updates to the city’s comprehensive fee schedule, airspace obstruction removal agreements tied to Schofield-area properties, and multiple agreements related to health services and housing programs.
The meeting will include a public comment period at the start. Residents may attend in person at City Hall, watch the meeting live on the city’s YouTube channel or on Channel 981, and submit comments during the public comment portion of the agenda.
