The Cleveland Browns have named Shedeur Sanders their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, giving him a chance to prove that he can be a long-term option for the franchise.
While he’ll be given that opportunity for this season, most predictions continue to be that the Browns will draft a quarterback early in the 2026 NFL Draft. Some have even suggested that Cleveland could try to trade up to the No. 1 overall pick for a new signal caller.
Should the Browns make an aggressive move for a rookie quarterback, Sanders would likely see his chance as a franchise quarterback in Cleveland come to an end.

In that scenario, it seems likely that the Browns would be open to trading Sanders. There are a few teams around the league who could have interest in taking a flier on him.

So far this season in Cleveland, Sanders has played in four games. He has completed 52.4 percent of his passes for 769 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions, while also running for 50 yards and another score.
Those numbers are enough to intrigue a team with a need at the quarterback position.
Keeping that in mind, the Indianapolis Colts could be a team to keep a close eye on. With Daniel Jones going down last week with a torn Achilles, the Colts might be looking for another quarterback in 2026. Sanders might make sense, depending on the price tag.
Behind Jones, Indianapolis has Riley Leonard, a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Philip Rivers was recently signed out of retirement to join the Colts. Adding Sanders would have to be an intriguing option for the team.
At the very least, Sanders would be a valuable backup behind a healthy Jones. Anthony Richardson was expected to be the backup this season, but the former No. 4 overall pick has been out due to an orbital injury. He is also expected to be moved during the NFL offseason.

If Indianapolis chooses to re-sign Jones, bringing in a legitimate backup would be a necessity. There is no guarantee that Jones will be fully health to begin the season and there is no knowing how he will recover from the Achilles injury.
Sanders may not end up being of interest to the Colts, but they’re a team worth monitoring as a potential destination of the Browns place him on the trade block.
